Sincerely, Dale Sanky Sunshine Coast Food Bank Mr. Len Schollen, President and a number of other representatives of the Sunshine Coast Lions Club and met with Mayor John R. Henderson at the site of the newly opened Mission Point Park Viewing Platform. The Club approached the District with the idea of constructing a viewing deck. The location identified was infested with Japanese Knotweed, a highly invasive plant species. The District coordinated approvals for the project, including the removal of the invasive species, with the Department of Fisheries. Platform footings were installed by District staff and Club volunteers completed the decking and railings. The platform is accessible to persons using mobility aides and provides views of Chapman Creek and Davis Bay. It is an excellent location for watching shore birds and waterfowl. Thank you to the Sunshine Coast Lions Club for helping to create another great public amenity in Mission Point Park. District of Sechelt "Thank you for my glasses. I really like them my friends like them too and my family thinks they're good on me because I'm grown up. What I really like about my glasses are they help me in school. The frames are rectangular and brown like my hair. The temples look like lace. I'm glad I have them because they help me with seeing stuff both near and far." Keyara Johnson - Recipient of special glasses "The Sunshine Coast Sockeye Water Polo Club thanks your organization for the generous donation of $269 towards the development of the new youth water polo program on the Sunshine Coast. The funds were directed towards the purchase equipment which has greatly accelerated the launch of this program." Sunshine Coast Sockeye Water Polo "Thank you for the five hundred dollar donation. Sunshine Coast White Cane Club "The Sunshine Coast Lions Club continues to roar for KidSport! The Lions partnered with KidSport four years ago and since that time have made a commitment to sponsor Sechelt and area youth in any BC recognized sport of the child's choice. To date they have donated $19,600 - supporting 143 kids to participate in sports! All of these children would not have been able to participate in their chosen sport without financial support." KidSport Sunshine Coast "I am writing to thank you for your very generous donation to the SC Food Bank during this time of growing need. It is donations such as yours that enable us to continue to assist our neighbours in need." Sunshine Coast Food Bank "I am sending this letter to thank the Sunshine Coast Lions Club for the donation made to the Imagination Library. Your donation will support the literacy of our youngest learners, so that hundreds of more books will be mailed children's homes across the Sunshine Coast. Research is very clear that the literacy experiences a child is exposed to in the five years before they enter Kindergarten is an extremely strong predictor of their later success in school. Sending books to our youngest learners is truly an ounce of preventions!" School District No. 46 "Please pass on our continued appreciation for your monthly contribution to the Kids in Motion program at Sunshine Coast Community Services Society to your members. Your donation has been greatly appreciated by the management and the staff, the board and our volunteers but especially by the recipients of our programs.
